Before publishing with AI.

Eight checks to reduce the verification burden placed on readers without claiming to identify a text’s origin.

1. Name the expected value

What question does the piece answer, and what will the reader take away?

2. Identify central claims

Mark the facts, numbers and recommendations that need support.

3. Open the sources

Check that each source supports the wording and its precise scope.

4. Add specifics

Replace generalities with a useful experience, fact or example.

5. Remove interchangeable copy

Cut repetition, formulaic transitions and sections without a purpose.

6. Check risks

Consider rights, privacy, security and possible harm.

7. Align title and distribution

The title, cadence and call to action should reflect the actual value.

8. Make an editorial decision

Publish, edit or withdraw. Completing generation does not obligate publication.

Reminder

AI-assisted content can be useful and responsible. Human writing can be repetitive or misleading. Assess the result and its context.
